  • The dark background suggests with the 'Hollyoaks' title to the audience that it is a dark storyline on this weeks episode. Nikon sponsors Hollyoaks because Nikon knows that teenagers and young people live their life through cameras and are constantly taking pictures so by sponsoring a TV show which is aimed at young people, they are hoping to promote their products and get more people to buy their products as a result.
  • The first scene is shown in two-shot with Paul and Mercedes. Paul dominates the frame, which shows he is dominant in the realtionship.
  • The MES shows that this scene takes place in a house or apartment, with pictures in the background and the casual clothing. Also, there is light coming in from a window which is off camera. All of this shows that this scene takes place in a house or an apartment, possibly the living room.

  • The next scene is in a kitchen, which is evident through the MES of tiles and cupboards. It is in an establishing shot, with Mercedes in the focus. Jacqui is looking at Mercedes from a distance. The lighting in this scene is coming from the right and is a yellow light from a lightbulb. The glow from this light is much softer than the light in teh first scene, hinting that Mercedes is safe in this environment.
  • 'Never seen a man so obsessed with me' Mercedes diegetic voice over is shown as Mercedes is shown with her ex, Riley, with Paul watching her. This proves that Mercedes theory that he is 'obsessed' with her is proven.

  • 'The girl needs help!' bridges from the pub to the office.
  • The office is shown through MES of blinds, wall clock, intray, desk, plant and the fling cabinet.
  • Jacqui is going through what is persumed to be Paul's things. The edit to the reaction shot from Jacqui proves that Paul is bad.
  • ECU detailed shot of Mercedes' phone lets the audience know what the character can see without actually showing a POV shot. 5 missed calls from Jacqui indicates that there is danger or a panic to get hold of Mercedes.
  • Paul and Mercedes. Paul is dominating the frame again and is very close to her, staring intensely, he is above her in height and not much of Mercedes face is showing showing once again that she is vunerable around Paul.
